When we first stepped into our home, the potential for a dreamy laundry room was unmistakable. The basement laundry routine was not only tiresome but begged for a change. So, the decision was made – our laundry sanctuary was moving up to the second floor, closer to the heartbeat of our home.
Our vision for the space extended beyond the practicalities; it was about crafting a haven where washing, drying, and folding felt like a delightful ritual. Plus, the absence of a linen closet spurred the need for clever storage solutions for everything from bed sheets to bulk supplies like toilet paper – because, let’s face it, adulting means stockpiling necessities.
In the early design phases, we carved out a snug 7′ x 3.5′ spot just off the main hallway to dedicate to this venture. More on that in this post. The canvas was set, and the possibilities were endless.
Countless iterations later, we found ourselves settled on a design and layout that not only met our laundry dreams but also mirrored the style we adore. The washer and dryer stood side by side, crowned by a countertop that gracefully stretched across the room. To the left, a chic cabinet held court, topped by three equally stylish companions.
On the right, open shelving beckoned – a stage for the daily heroes like laundry detergent and dryer balls.
And then, the aesthetics – the pièce de résistance. Picture a backsplash adorned with a mesmerizing Zellige style tile, a nod to our love for mixing the old and new. The walls, a canvas for creativity, where wallpaper or a stenciled design would weave in personality and charm.
This journey wasn’t just about relocating a laundry room; it was about turning a mundane task into a daily delight. So, as we dream of folding laundry in this stylish haven, we can’t help but celebrate the journey of making a house truly feel like home.
